Keith Olbermann's Special Comment on "Sacrifice"


From Crooks and Liars: Keith Olbermann stepped up and slapped Bush's plan to use the word "sacrifice" as an excuse to send more troops to Iraq. Bush needs a new catch phrase to try and deceive the nation with, but Republican talking points won't work on the people anymore. They are fed up with Bush and this war and sending more troops to die is not an answer. U.S. Troop Casualties Hit 3000


WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The number of U.S. military deaths in Iraq has reached 3,000 since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, an authoritative Web site tracking war deaths said on Sunday.

The milestone comes as President George W. Bush weighs options, including more troops, for the deteriorating situation in Iraq, where daily violence plagues Baghdad and much of the country and has killed tens of thousands of Iraqis.

The Web site, www.icasualties.org, listed the death of Spec. Dustin R. Donica, 22, on December 28 as previously unreported, and said that 3,000 U.S. military personnel had now died.

The Cost Of The War




As you can see from the above figures, the cost of the war continues to spiral. The cost of killing Sadaam, securing Iraqi oil and assuring carte blanche contracts to the likes of Haliburton, Bechtel, et al, COULD have:

Paid for 46,966,968 children to attend a year of Head Start.

Insured 212,335,757 children for one year.

Provided 17,190,268 students four-year scholarships at public universities.

Hired 6,145,277 additional public school teachers for one year.

Happy New Year!


Well, the Democratic controlled Congress will be in session later this week. Many are talking about various oversights and some are talking impeachment. Lets hope that this year will be the beginning of a more constructive and ethical Congress. More on that in a later post. Happy New Year everyone!
